This summer we are visiting Yellowstone again, but coming from several different entrances, since the park is so large. We stayed at Rocky Mountain RV Park in Gardiner, Montana, less than one mile from the north entrance, by the famous Roosevelt Arch. The RV park was nice, but the best part was the fact that this section of Yellowstone is not as busy, especially when you leave early in the morning. This trip we decided to take a Yellowstone Forever Tour, a non-profit, so we could both enjoy the view without driving and take advantage of their wildlife knowledge and expertise. It was definitely worth it. We were able to wolves, grizzly bears and a mountain goat via scope. We also saw black bear and cubs, big horn sheep, bison, elk, coyotes, sandhill cranes, osprey, a badger family, and many cute….squirrels. Our tour guide, Mike took us to a nice picnic spot at Pebble Creek, on a tour of Buffalo Ranch and we hiked around Trout Lake. It was a pricey tour, but it was worth it. Mike really liked going to Slough Creek to watch the wolves and watching for wildlife in the Lamar Valley. We both loved our hike on the Hellroaring Creek Trail. It had beautiful mountain views, a suspension bridge over the Yellowstone River, a sagebrush plateau, wildflowers and ended at Hellroaring creek. We also visited Mammoth Hot Springs and enjoyed the thermal features. We enjoyed the town of Gardiner, Montana and will definitely be back.
Next stop Idaho and visiting more of Yellowstone from the Western Entrance.
