Brookhollow RV Park in Kelso, WA was a great place to spend a week. The Coweeman River Dike Trail was right next to our campground, which was great for birding, running and biking. Mount St. Helens was about an hour drive away, and was very interesting. Mount St. Helens is an active stratovolcano in Washington State. Enjoyed hiking the Eruption Trail, spending time in the Coldwater Lake Recreation Area, seeing the Memorial and all the beautiful views. We were also only about an hour from Long Beach, WA. The Discovery Trail was a wonderful biking trail through multiple beach towns and Cape Disappointment State Park. The North Head Light House in Ilwaco, WA and Belle’s Overlook in Cape Disappointment were the highlights of the ride.
Our next stop was Pheasant Ridge RV Park in Wilsonville, OR, located about 15-20 minutes from Portland. The Portland Japanese Garden, Hoyt Arboretum, International Test Rose Garden and Washington Park, are must sees if you visit the area. The garden was very unique and the trees in arboretum were massive. It was so nice to see family, meet our great niece Sophie and eat some wonderful pie and strawberry shortcake at Willamette Fruit Company in Salem. We also had a quick stop in Kennewick, WA at the Columbia Sun RV Resort. It was over 100 degrees every day we were there, so we just enjoyed the resort and worked on some family and RV projects.
Next stop…riding on the Coeur d’Alene Trail in Idaho!
