Our third year of full-time RV life was another excellent adventure! We have visited 41 states so far, and look forward to eventually getting to all 50. We had planned to visit Canada for the past two summers, but unfortunately due to the pandemic, it wasn’t an option until very recently. We will get there eventually!
Here are a few facts from our 3rd year of full-time RV life:
11,716 Miles driven in our RV, an average of 976 miles per month
7,613 miles driven in our tow vehicle; 634 miles per month
22 states in our 3rd year, with 10 of them being new states for us.
We stayed in 67 campgrounds:
45 RV parks
16 State parks
4 County parks
1 National park
1 Free site (Mike’s Mom’s house)
Longest stay ever: 110 days in Tucson, AZ
Average stay per campsite: 6 days
We visited 6 National parks and countless National Forests, Monuments, Memorials, Landmarks, Historic sites, and State Parks.
We are still very happy in our full-time RV life and don’t have any plans of stopping in the foreseeable future. It is a “wonderful” life, but it definitely has many of the same challenges as living in a “sticks and bricks” house. The worst thing that has happened to us so far was a freak issue with a broken connection fitting on the RV DEF injector, which we believe was hit by a rock while we were driving, and we ended up having to get towed. The good news is that it was only cost $330 to get fixed, zero tow fee, since we had roadside assistance, and fortunately we were able to stay in the RV at repair facility. We were very lucky, and we strive to do everything we can to maintain our RV, in hopes that we will not have any serious issues on the road. We have also had some very minor medical issues, that get complicated when you need aren’t able to stay in one place for treatment, which is a unique issue for full-time RV’ers. All in all, we are very blessed that this lifestyle allows us to visit family more often and see so many amazing places, and just relax and enjoy nature wherever we are.
The pictures below are the highlights of our journey this past year. We are looking forward to our 4th year and many more to come!
