On our way to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, we got a “high battery voltage” warning on our RV instrument panel, which turned out to be an alternator Issue. Fortunately, we were able to get service in Traverse City. We decided to stay in a hotel overnight, instead of staying at the service center. The view from the hotel of Grand Traverse Bay was beautiful. We were able to walk downtown from our hotel along the waterfront and eat some comfort food at “Bubba’s” “Bubba” was a nickname Mike’s Dad gave him when he was a boy, and he really did not like it, especially when his brothers teased him using this name. Thankfully, the food was good! We were back on the road early the next afternoon to Empire, Michigan, and stayed at an absolutely fabulous resort, Indigo Bluff. We actually were given our own security gate opener and stones to put under our RV levelers, as they didn’t want their pavers damaged. We were nestled in the trees, with plenty of space from our neighbors. The resort also had very nice amenities, including a farm stand with delicious corn, and of course the location was perfect for visiting Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. The Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is not to be missed if you visit this park. There are a dozen overlooks to enjoy the majestic beauty of the dunes, Lake Michigan, and Glen Lake. We hiked Alligator Hill, Empire Bluff, and Treat Farm trails; all with amazing views. Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail was a wonderful rolling bike trail through the park and the cute towns of Empire, Glen Haven, and Glen Arbor. All in all, a wonderful adventure, and we would love to come back and explore this area further.
Next: One last stop in Michigan and then heading east to Ohio
