Our very first visit to the state of Maine was everything we hoped it would be. We stayed at a wonderful RV Resort, Wild Duck Campground in Scarborough. It was right next to the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center and just off the Eastern Bike Trail. Mike really enjoyed the easy access to birding and I loved the bike trail. We had a great Kayak trip through the marsh on a gorgeous day with a beautiful blue sky and clouds. We loved being able to bike to four lighthouses, downtown Portland and nearby beaches. We hiked to nearby Cascade Falls and Blue Point Preserve. We were also thrilled to find two nearby cliff walks at Fort Williams Park and in Prouts Neck to explore. Scarborough State Park, Scarborough and Ferry Beach were all beautiful, but we only put our toes in due to recent shark sightings. During our stay, we definitely enjoyed some Maine “Labstah” and delicious wild blueberry pie.
Next stop…Acadia National Park!
