After leaving Corpus Christi, we began our trek with a few short trips on our way to visit family. The Texas roads and highways had so many beautiful flowers that made the drive more pleasant. Our first stop was San Antonio, where we stayed at “Traveler’s World” again, to take advantage of their wonderful trails around the city. It is nice to come back to campgrounds we are familiar with, as there is no research and you can just relax and enjoy. We had to adjust some of our reservation due to a medical issue (all good), so we unfortunately, we had to stay at a different campsite in Waco, which was less then desirable (Patriot RV Park). Glad it was just 2 nights! Next we stayed at “Twin Coves RV Park” again in Flower Mound to spend time with our daughter Erica, and son-in-law Shane. We have stayed in several campgrounds in the Dallas area, and this one is definitely our favorite. It is very quiet and has mountain biking trails and good access to bike friendly roads. The best part of our visit was paddle boarding on Grapevine lake, which surrounds the campground. Arrowhead State Park in Canadian, OK was yet another campground that we have stayed at several times. Mike really likes the birding and I like the quiet lake views. Mike had a quick stop in Nevada, Missouri, while I took the truck to arrive in Kansas City a couple of days earlier to spend time with my Mom. In the KC metro area, we had a repeat campground, Longview Lake, in Lee’s Summit, MO. This location has worked out great for us, and was especially pretty in the spring with all redbud tress and flowers. I spent most of the time at my Mom’s house, while Mike got a chance to have some much needed alone time. Spending quality time with my Mom, sister and brother was just what I needed also!
Next stop…Omaha to visit Mike’s family.
