The Petoskey, Charlevoix, and Harbor Springs area of Michigan is extremely charming. We stayed at a fabulous resort, “Sun Outdoors” in Petoskey. The landscaping was gorgeous, the concrete sites were large with plenty of space between RV’s, and it had nice amenities. On our very first day, when I was dumping trash and recycling, I ran into Alfonso Ribeiro (Fresh Prince/America’s Funniest Videos) with his daughter on their golf cart. He let me take their picture. I did tell him I would not share with anyone but family, so I won’t post here. He was so nice and we saw him often throughout our stay, as he was only two RV’s away from us. Pretty cool! Downtown Petoskey was very cute. We ate at a favorite spot of Ernest Hemmingway, “City Park Grill”, which was delicious, and enjoyed walking through Bayfront Park. Looking for Petoskey Stones on Lake Michigan at Petoskey State Park was one of the highlights of our trip. One of my good friends is a big rock collector, and it was fun looking for some stones for her and a few other friends. I absolutely loved biking on the “Little Traverse Wheelway” with its beautiful views of Lake Michigan and the adorable town of Charlevoix. The “Tunnel of Trees” is a beautiful drive from Petoskey to Harbor Springs along the Lake. We hiked and did some birding in the Hoogland and Woolham Family Nature Preserves in Harbor Springs, but didn’t see many birds, but it was very pretty. We had a lovely lunch in Harbor Springs and dessert at the famous local Kilwin’s Chocolate and Ice Cream.
Next stops: Traverse City and Sleeping Dunes National Park!
