Walnut Creek Recreation Area in Papillion, Nebraska is a nice little campground to come back to year after year. We really like the lake and trails, but prefer full hook ups spots, and this site only has electric. For $16 per night, we will take it! We had a lot of fun spending time with Mike’s mom and siblings. A ton of good food and lots of games. It was nice to see Rita enjoying her new Assisted Living facility. We were also able to catch up with Marzouk and play football and basketball at Steve’s house, and visit some college friends. A stop at Costco to fuel up with diesel was a must, due the high prices. We also completed some routine RV maintenance and got the oil changed, chassis lubed, etc. while we were in Omaha.
Next stop was Kearney, Nebraska. Fortunately this trip we had great weather and I was able to see my Alma Mater, the University of Nebraska (UNK) on my bike and explore the local trails. Biking on the Fort Kearney hike and bike path and visiting the Archway were the highlights of our visit.
Our final stop was Cabela’s RV campground in Sidney, NE. It was kind of cool to stay at their premier park at their corporate headquarters. There were nice walking trails and plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. My favorite part was biking on the Deadwood trail.
Next stop: Fort Collins, Colorado!
