Spending more time with family and friends was one of the many reasons we chose the full-time RV lifestyle. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to attend both a family and high school reunion in Nebraska. Mike comes from a large family that frequently plans gatherings. This year was the Troshinski Reunion in Atkinson, NE. We had the great pleasure of having Mike’s mom, Rita drive with us in our RV, which was truly special. It was great being able to see Mike’s siblings and so many of his extended family members at the reunion, a 90th birthday party, and a church celebration.
Mike and I met in Omaha, NE when I was visiting from Kansas City. I found out after we had been dating for a while that two of his great aunt’s. who were nuns, actually taught at my school (St. Mary’s in O’Neill, NE). What a small world! It was neat to see so many of their pictures and hear stories about them and Mike’s other family members at the reunion. I had not been back to the O’Neill/Atkinson area in 35+ years, so it was really special to also get a chance to see some of my high school friends at 40th get together. Mike and I also explored the Cowboy Trail on our bikes and enjoyed the scenery.
Prior to our trip to Atkinson, We visited family and friends in the Omaha area. When we arrived, the RV park that we normally stay at was full, and so were almost all other parks due to the College World Series and all the flooding in the area. My mother-in-law generously let us park our RV in her backyard. It was so nice to be so close to family and have more time together.
Luckily, Omaha has a pretty extensive trail system, so we were able to ride on the Keystone, Papio and Bellevue Loop trails while we were in town. I also was able to visit with several friends from college and catch up. The highlight of our visit was attending a College World Series game. If you love baseball, we highly recommend coming to Omaha and watch the games and explore the Old Market area.
Now we heading west for the rest of the summer!
