We love the new Nebraska marketing campaign, “Honestly, it’s not for Everyone!” We just spent two weeks visiting family and friends in the Omaha metro area, and rediscovered how welcoming this state is, and what it has to offer. Mike and I both attended Nebraska Universities, and will forever be Husker football fans! The Omaha metro area has one of the best zoos in the nation; Henry Doorly Zoo, great parks, Fontenelle Forest, and a fabulous art and entertainment area, the Old Market. The rest of Nebraska also has some amazing things to do and see like, Toadstool Geological State Park, (Nebraska is not completely flat!) and watching the annual sandhill crane migration. For us, since we have so many family and friends in Nebraska, the people make this state special. We were so fortunate to attend Mike’s mother’s 90th birthday celebration and spend quality time with our relatives. I was also able to reconnect with college friends while we were in town. We did not get an opportunity to spend much time outdoors during this trip, as it was cold and snowy. However, one of the local gyms, “Genesis” had a great deal for guests to donate can goods to use the facilities over the holidays. We got some great indoor workouts in to help make up for all the family feasts we indulged in while we were in town. Nebraska, it’s not for everyone….but we love it!!!
