James Robb State Park in Fruita, Colorado was a wonderful place to spend two weeks with a spacious site and full hookups. The campsites had beautiful views of the Colorado National Monument, the Colorado River and direct access to the Colorado River Trail. We really weren’t expecting the beauty of the Colorado National Monument and did not know that it was a 23 mile drive from the Fruita entrance to the Grand Junction entrance. We loved it so much, we drove to and through the monument five times, at different times of the day, and stopped at every overlook. Desert Bighorn Sheep were plentiful in the park. We saw them on the road and in the mountains numerous times. There was a nice bird walk scheduled in the evening at the National Monument, which was very interesting and fun to meet new people. Mike enjoyed birding in the state park and in the Grand Mesa National Forest as well.
The Western Slope of Colorado is not only beautiful, it has such cute towns with great shops and restaurants. Fruita, Grand Junction and Palisades have adorable downtowns that are all connected to the Colorado River Trail. I had such fun biking and running on this trail along the river, through state parks and the mountain views. Mike took his mountain bike to Loma, Co and rode Russler’s trail, which also had gorgeous views.
Next stops are in Utah, and a new state for us in our RV; Nevada
