We have family in the Philadelphia area and received excellent camping recommendations for our stay while we were in the area. Our first site was French Creek State Park. It is a little gem filled with wonderful hiking trails, an amazing pool, lake and beach area. We definitely enjoyed all of the above as well as biking, birding and running in the park. We drove to Philadelphia for a socially distanced family bike ride on the Schuylkill River Trail and a take out picnic. Philadelphia is such a historic place and it was great getting to be in the city again.
Next we drove to Benton, PA to explore Ricketts Glen State Park. Our 43′ Class A Motorhome was too big for the campsites at Ricketts Glen, so we stayed at nearby campground. The highlight of our trip was definitely the amazing hiking trails and waterfalls in this amazing state park. It was an unforgettable experience to see at least 17 waterfalls on our hike. We also loved seeing the flowering plants and several cool Eastern Red-Spotted Newts.
There are always chores to be done in full-time RV life, just as there are in a regular “sticks and bricks” house. We did a complete wash and wax of the RV, as well as deep clean of our fiberglass roof. It took several hours, but it was worth it when we saw how clean and shiny our Newmar Dutch Star was when we finally finished.
Next stop New York State!
