Topsail Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach was a fabulous place to start our first winter in Florida. The white sand beach was so pristine, soft and beautiful; easily the nicest beach with emerald waters that we have been to in the U.S., Mexico or the Caribbean! The RV park area was very clean and the sites spacious. We loved the hiking and biking trails in the park to the beach, dunes, lakes, wetlands and pine forests. There was also a nice biking trail on Highway 30A right outside the park with great views of the beach, lakes and nice homes.
Our next campsite was in Crawfordsville, FL near Tallahassee. We stayed in a nice Golf and RV Resort to celebrate our First Thanksgiving without family. We video chatted with relatives before going to the San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park, that had a cool 400 year old Spanish Fort. I loved getting on my road bike and running on several of the nearby trails; especially the St. Mark Historic Railroad State Trail from the capital to the Gulf of Mexico. Mike’s favorite part was birding and biking at St. Mark’s National Wildlife Refuge, one of the oldest in the country.
Next stop St. Augustine, Florida.
