After enjoying the city of Colorado Springs, we relaxed on it’s quieter side at Cheyenne Mountain State Park.
We had a blast mountain biking and hiking on all the trails in this new state park (established in 2005). The park was very clean and trails were so well marked , that even I could not get lost! There were maps and GPS coordinates to keep you on course. I especially liked some of the less technical trails that flowed smoothly, which allowed me to experience the thrill of going down hill for several miles. I felt like a little kid again! Mike of course liked the more challenging and rocky terrain.
The best part was reconnecting with our godson, who is a missionary in Denver, working with the homeless at Christ in the City. We are very proud of him and were so glad to have the opportunity to spend time with him, and the added bonus of introducing him to Mountain Biking. Mike took him out on the technical trails right away, and Tyler was a natural. We also had a great time hiking, catching up and watching the World Series together.
Our daughter had recommended hiking in Seven Falls from her visit to Colorado Springs earlier this year. It is on National Geographic’s list of International Waterfalls. We had to climb a lot of steps (don’t look down), and were rewarded with some stunning views.
Next stop on our journey…. Santa Fe New Mexico!
