We have been relaxing in our RV site in the Dallas suburbs for 10 days and have been appreciating warmer weather. Running, hiking, biking, etc. are so much more pleasant when the sun is shining and it is above 50 degrees. It is a little unusual however, to be preparing for the Christmas holiday when it is so nice outside, but we are not complaining! It was fun to decorate the RV for the first time and help my daughter get her apartment ready for our family holiday celebrations. We do feel a bit nostalgic about not having Christmas in our home of 30 years, but don’t have any regrets. I especially enjoyed making my mother’s famous cookies in my daughters kitchen, as an RV is not ideal for baking 8 or 9 dozen cookies.
We don't have room for a big tree. This live evergreen plant is the next best thing. It smells great!
Cookies taste great...but not decorated nearly as nice as GrandMary's.
A wreath adds some holiday spirit in the RV!
Exploring each area we stay in and finding new adventures is key to staying active in our RV lifestyle. The Dallas area has had a lot of rain in recent weeks, so we to stick to mostly paved trails for running and biking like White Rock Lake, Santa Fe Trail, and the Mesquite Heritage Trail. We found the Chaparral trail in Farmersville, TX that was a combination of paved, sand, gravel, etc., however, we had to turn around after about 10 miles as it got very muddy and then was totally flooded.
A "rail to trail' in progress.
We were really glad we took our mountain bikes on the Chaparral ride, as it got pretty rocky and muddy!
I had a great run on this trail.
It is refreshing to have a simpler holiday, appreciate the season (& the reason), and give back to those in need.
