We had a delightful time in Tyler, Texas. It is very quaint city that is also the Rose Capital of the United States. One of our favorite attractions was the the Tyler Rose Garden. It is a 14-acre park with more than 38,000 rose bushes plus fountains, gazebos & walking paths. We were lucky to visit in Mid- May with so many flowers in bloom.
The best of part of our trip was getting to see family. We met our daughter at Lake Tawakoni State Park in nearby Wills Point, Texas for a picnic and a hike. We were also able to get together with Mike’s brother John and his wife Cheri, and my sister Laurie and her husband Mark, who all live nearby. We had some delicious meals and tons of fun playing games.
Mike and I also went to Tyler State Park and got a couple of good hikes in, as it was still too wet to mountain bike. The sun fortunately dried out the trails a day or two later, so we were were able to get a good bike ride in at nearby Lindsey Park.
Summer thunderstorms and tornadoes continue to be in the forecast. We continue to vigilantly to follow the weather, especially since our next stop is Oklahoma!
