Colorful Colorado is definitely one of our favorite destinations and we really love their state parks. Every park we have camped in has had full hook-ups, concrete pads, amazing views, and excellent trails.
Chatfield State Park in Littleton, definitely did not disappoint. The trails and roads around the park gave us a chance to gravel, road and mountain bike and run with the beauty of nature all around us. We especially enjoyed biking to Waterton Canyon, on the Colorado Trail and seeing so many big horn sheep! Mike really enjoyed birding and wildlife watching during this trip. He captured some great shots of mule deer, prairie dogs, coyote, sheep and many birds. Fortunately, we were not too close to the Cameron Peak and East Troublesome fires, however, we could see some of the smoke. So sad to see so many acres of beautiful land burned. The good news is a feet or two of snow really helped to calm the fire. Most of you know that we are not fans of snow, so we made our exit strategy when heard the forecast.
Onward to New Mexico for warmer weather!
