We had a fabulous visit with family in Kansas City, known as the “City of Fountains”. If you have never visited before, it is a beautiful city with tons of history and gorgeous architecture. We normally stay at an RV Park in Merriam, KS, that has great access to all the attractions, shopping, trails and of course to our family members. There was a carnival in nearby Shawnee, KS while we were in town. Some of the carnival workers were staying at our RV Park in some unusual RV’s that had six to eight doors to separate rooms (See picture below). We enjoyed running and walking on the nearby Turkey Creek Streamway Trail and biking at Shawnee Mission park and connecting trails. By far the best part of our stop in KC was spending time with family. We had a great time eating delicious meals, playing games, biking and just spending time together.
It is not always fun and games though, as RV’s need service and maintenance. We spent a week in Columbia, Missouri primarily to get some routine service on the RV and our tow vehicle. Of course we still managed to have time for some fun. We went to downtown Columbia to access the MKT Trail, and had a nice bike ride until we ran into some major flooding. Our campsite was near the Bear Creek Trail, so we took advantage of the proximity and got several runs and some mountain biking in. We also went to the Finger Lakes State Park to do some hiking and birding. Columbia, MO is more than just a college town.
Next stop is Nebraska to visit more family and friends!
