Our first trip to Cape Cod was amazing! We stayed at an RV Resort in Eastham, right on the Cape Cod Bike Trail and a half a mile from the National Seashore Visitors Center. It is wonderful to just get on your bike and head to to the beach and most of the local attractions. The Cape Cod National Seashore was created in 1961 and includes nearly 40 miles of ponds, woods and beach front of the Atlantic Coast. The natural beauty has been preserved and it is a peaceful place to just relax and enjoy. We spent time at Coast Guard, Nauset, Marconi and First Encounter Beaches. It was not very crowded, and it was very easy to maintain social distance. There were definitely more shark warnings than we have seen at other beaches, but thankfully, no sightings. We did see lots of seals, especially when we kayaked through the nearby marsh. We biked or ran on the Cape Cod Trail everyday. It is a very scenic trail that goes through multiple small towns, many beaches, ponds and Nickerson State Park. We also rode on some connector trails and the Nauset trail. Our favorite bike ride took us to both the Nauset and Three Sisters Lighthouses and to the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The Fort Hill Trail was one of the prettiest hikes we have ever been on with beautiful fields and marshes. We ended our stay at First Encounter Beach to watch the sunset. We would love to stay longer and can’t wait to visit Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket when we are able return.
