We had two quick stops on our way to Yellowstone; Buffalo, WY and Reed Point, MT. Buffalo ended up to be a hidden gem in the Big Horn Mountains with a very quaint and historic downtown. There is a fabulous trail in Buffalo, called the Clear Creek Trail, with almost all 15 miles next to the creek. We were able to walk from our RV park to the trail, which is always a bonus. A mama cow was not too happy with me when I tried to cross the trail when I was hiking, she really gave me the stink eye. Thankfully, she didn’t give us any problems when we biked the trail.
Montana was a new state to add to our RV journey, and boy what a beautiful state! We stopped at a Costco in Billings, MT on our way, as we will be in pretty remote areas for awhile and needed to stock up. Our first campsite in Montana, was in Reed Point, an extremely tiny town that just had a post office, gas station, and a fishing/camping recreation area. We aren’t complaining though! It was right on the Yellowstone River with some great snow capped mountain views.
We had some rainy days during both stops, which allowed us to get some RV chores and cleaning completed. Luckily, it looks like we will have ideal weather for our first week in Yellowstone.
