We finally made it to beautiful Bend, Oregon! It is such a fun city on the Deschutes River with gorgeous views of the Cascade Mountains. We stayed at the Crown Villa RV Resort, which had large sites, separate parking area for tow vehicles, and was centrally located. Alpenglow park was just a few blocks away, with great running/walking trails; which was very convenient. We enjoyed walking and running at Riverbend Park, and watching so many people enjoying floating, kayaking or paddle boarding down the river. We had hoped to do a lot of mountain biking while we were in town, however, Mike’s wrist is still healing from his fall from the ladder last month. We did ride “Phil’s Loop” trail, which was tons of fun, and stopped to eat a delicious breakfast at the Sparrow Bakery. I drove to the resort community of Sunriver, as they had the best biking trails in the area, which also connected to the Sun Lava Trail in the Deschutes National Forest, for a very nice ride. We also hiked and looked for birds/wildlife on the “Big Eddy” trail in the Deschutes National Forest. I definitely wished we could have stayed longer, but we had a quick stop planned in Burns, Oregon. Mike drove through the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, while I relaxed in the RV. He really enjoyed taking his time through the auto tour and getting a ton of good photos.
Next stop: Boise, Idaho!
