On our second visit to Austin, we stayed in a unique location; Oak Forest RV Park and Village Farms Tiny House Community. Cute tiny houses were located throughout the park and more were across the street around a certified organic farm. It was a very nice clean resort with large sites and easy access to downtown Austin. The Walter E. Long Lake was a little over a mile away. We enjoyed the lake view, however, the hiking trails were not very interesting or picturesque. We enjoyed breakfast at Veracruz and a nice walk around downtown Austin. Austin has the largest bat population in North America and they congregate around the Congress Avenue Bridge in Spring and Fall. We actually only heard them, which was okay by me. The highlight of our trip was having our daughter, Erica drive down from Dallas to meet us. We had a great time shopping, eating Voodoo Donuts and playing games in the RV. Austin does not have any long bike trails and several were not in very safe neighborhoods, so we opted not to ride while we were in town. We did however enjoy Mueller Lake Park and Southwest Greenway for running and hiking.
Next stop San Antonio!
