Lake Lurleen State Park in Coker, Alabama is a small state park with some really nice campsites and wonderful mountain biking trails. We really lucked out and were able to get a site right on the lake with spectacular views. The park was only about 1/3 full, peaceful and very easy to practice social distancing. It was so nice to bike and hike in the woods and not encounter anyone along the trail. We had a few chilly nights and enjoyed reading next to our fire ring. Apparently this is a very busy park during Alabama football season, since it is close to Tuscaloosa, so we were glad to have the change to camp here when it was not crowded. We left a bit early due to potential severe storm and stayed briefly in Leland, Mississippi. We did not venture out much, but did enjoy the nearby Greenville Cyprus Preserve and the trail in Hardy Park. Our next stop was Texarkana, Texas. It was also a shorter stay than usual, but we did find some fun mountain biking on the Bringle lake trails and running in Spring Lake Park.
Can’t wait for our next 3 stops in Texas where we will be able to see family from a safe distance, depending on the latest Texas Covid-19 guidelines.
